In a continued effort to bridge the gap between field and fork, the nonprofit Growing Chef is hosting this fundraiser ($40) in partnership with local food purveyors Urban Rustic, Brooklyn Standard and Greenpoint Food Market.
Fill up on locally sourced snacks and stick around for live music and an auction that will have locavores eagerly pulling out their checkbooks: Bid to win an apple tree lease, beekeeping lessons, composting kits or dinner at Franny's. Growing Chefs was founded in 2005 as a way to connect people to food, from the soil to the kitchen. To connect to food, from field to fork, is to raise a generation of healthier eaters, more confident chefs, and better ecologically minded citizens.
