UPDATE - 4/20/2010

FOOD, Inc. is making its broadcast television premiere on PBS, Wednesday night at 9pm. Watch it! Find specifics on channel information near you here.

PBS and the filmmakers are encouraging people to host screening parties with a potluck dinner theme. FoodieLink wants you to do this, then share photos of your potlucks with us!

I am amazed that this great documentary film has not gotten more wide-spread viewing among general audiences. Hopefully its nomination for Best Documentary at the 2010 Academy Awards will earn it some well-deserved viewership. This is truly a film that inspired us to change our lifestyles in the name of healthy and sustainable eating, and was an instrumental emotional motivator for us to start FoodieLink.

Some reviews:

Roger Ebert - Chicago Sun Times - "This review doesn't read one thing like a movie review. But most of the stuff I discuss in it, I learned from the new documentary "Food, Inc.," directed by Robert Kenner and based on the recent book An Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. I figured it wasn't important for me to go into detail about the photography and the editing. I just wanted to scare the bejesus out of you, which is what "Food, Inc." did to me."

Jason Anderson - Toronto Star - "An invaluable primer, Food, Inc. covers a wide array of factors and concerns without becoming excessively polemical or deadeningly earnest."

Wesley Morris - Boston Glob - "The whole thing is as subtle as a watermelon in a bowl of Cheerios but necessary, nonetheless."

Andrew O'Hehir - Salon.com - "An engaging and often wrenching film, Food, Inc. covers a wide range of material, including the horrific, the humorous and the exemplary."
