Week 2 of the FoodieLink Beta has been exciting as our membership has grown and activity on the site has increased! Check out the numerous blogs, news, photos and updates that people have been sharing with our community. We have chefs, nutritionists, and many other foodies contributing to the site, and we are excited to see more and more people come aboard!

First, a quick reminder from last week's Beta Update about Email Notices:

How to manage email notifications continues to be a question among new members. We recognize that people don’t want to receive an overwhelming amount of email based on activity on the site. To manage your email settings, you should sign onto the site, go to your Inbox and click on Notices . Scroll down on the Notices screen, and you will see a series of check-boxes that allow you to select which types of activity you would like to receive email notices for. We will make this easier and more intuitive to find in the coming weeks.

Also, we'd like to encourage members to fill out some information about themselves in their profiles. Sign-on to the site, click on "Profile". There, you will see a link to "Edit Profile" in the "Info" box on the left side of the page. Click on it, and fill in some details about yourself that you'd like to share with the FoodieLink community!

We've made a number of updates to the site over the last week. Here's a run-down of the major items now available to you:

Editing/Deleting Photos

We've implemented the ability for you to edit the information you entered when uploading a photo (ie: the caption, the description and the tags), as well as allowing you to delete the photo altogether if you decide that you don't want to keep it uploaded. To do this, sign-on and click on the photo you uploaded (from either your profile or the photo navigation tab), and you will see the links to delete or edit the photo just below the photo description on the left.

Sharing Blogs and Photos

If you see a particular blog entry or photo that you would like to share on your Facebook or Twitter page, now you can! We've also included shares a whole host of other sites and services. Check it out! At the bottom of each blog entry or photo page, you will see a "Share" icon. Click on it to see the services you can share that blog or photo with. Short-cuts to Facebook, MySpace, Google, and Twitter are also listed for fast access. If there are other services you would like us to add to the Sharing function, let us know!

Subscribe to RSS Feed

If you use RSS readers from My Yahoo, Google, Bloglines, or Live Bookmarks, you can subscribe to RSS feeds for blogs or photos from specific FoodieLink members! To do this, view a specific blog entry or photo that you like, then find the RSS Subscribe shortcut link (in the "About Me" section of the blog entry, or underneath the member's profile picture in the photo detail page) and click on it. You can then select your RSS reader and subscribe to the blog entries or photos from that FoodieLink member.

"Fresh" or "Rotten" voting on foodieNews

When viewing the foodieNews section, you will notice the addition of small "Fresh" and "Rotten" icon buttons below each news article. Click on "Fresh" if you like the article, or "Rotten" if you don't, and your vote will be added/subtracted to the "Freshness" rating of the article. Then, you can view the news articles by the "Freshest" ratings to see the most popular news on the site.

Become a Facebook fan or follow us on Twitter

We are extending our community to our friends on Facebook and followers on Twitter. Become a fan or follow us to stay up to date with what's going on with FoodieLink by clicking on the respective icons on the FoodieLink home page!

Just like last week, we love that people are enjoying the things we are adding to the site, but also still recognize that there is a lot left for us to do! Enjoy the site, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you have ideas, comments, questions...or even complaints!...by sending us email at support@foodielink.com.

Sincerely,

The FoodieLink Team .
